ACT NOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

IN STUDENTS' LIVES!

WE NEED YOUR APPLICATION BY SEPTEMBER 18TH

True2U is always looking for caring adults who are interested in positively impacting the community by connecting with Cleveland’s future. Thank you in advance if you have already started the process to become a True2U Volunteer Mentor. Please spread the word and share with someone you think can make a difference. We are still seeking volunteer mentors for all 8th grade classes in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD).

Now in its ninth year, True2U is the hands-on volunteer program that matches you with another volunteer mentor and an 8th-grade class at one of 63 CMSD schools. It gives you the space and time to share what you’ve learned along your career path. It includes an engaging curriculum and the training to do it well. Just sharing your story with Cleveland students, and being a steady partner along the journey will have ripple effects for the students and our city, for years to come.

If you are a returning mentor and not sure if you need to complete the online application or if you would like to further discuss the program and this volunteer opportunity, please contact Laura Huffman at laura@neighborhoodleadership.org

True2U started in 2015 and now serves all 2,500 8th graders in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, in 63 school buildings, with the support of hundreds of volunteer mentors.

True2U mentors are dedicated facilitators, working in teams to help students:

·     Find their strengths

·     Explore their interests and career pathways

·     Check out their high school options from 30+ in the CMSD portfolio

·     Accept and celebrate who they are. . .so they can be true to themselves, now and in the future.

Mentor benefits include training and enrichment in the topics, facilitation techniques, and cultural competency skills. Plus, you’ll have the satisfaction of helping shape—and being shaped by—the next generation of Cleveland’s leaders.

True2U is proud to partner with the Greater Cleveland Career Consortium (GCCC) and support the PACE (Planning and Career Exploration) Framework in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), an embedded curriculum for 6th – 12th graders that provides them with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and confidence to uncover the occupations or careers they want to pursue. To learn more about the GCCC please visit their website at https://www.greaterclecc.org/
